2016

• On Feb 3rd the premiere date is announced with returning favourites the Side Show, After Dark, and the Free Live Feeds
• In a Big Brother first an announcement on the Shaw website revealed a Big Brother first with 4 potential international housemate’s moving into the Big Brother Canada house. (Nikki Grahame BBUK, Jase Wirey BBUSA, Tim Dormer BBAU & Veronica Graf (BB Italy)))
• Voting opened the same day to the public to vote in 1 international guy, and 1 international girl inside the house
• Big Brother Canada Season 4 premieres on March 2nd with another twist (2 players – a pair of brothers will play as one player)
• On March 3rd it was revealed to the public that Tim Dormer & Nikki Grahame will enter the BBCAN house as official player
• On Day 35th the first ever fake double eviction occurred in North America
• On Day 52 Ramsey becomes the first player in BBCAN history to self-evict because of a family emergency
• On May 12th for the first time In North American Big Brother history a pair of brothers won Big Brother (Nick & Phil Paquette)
• Big Brother Canada was renewed for a season 5 on June 7th

2017

• On March 8th it was announced 8 former players would enter the house alongside 8 newbies
• BBCAN5 Premieres on March 15th. Well After Dark is axed for this season, and the Side Show is replaced with a Facebook talk show
• For the first time in history, the stage has changed it’s appearance. It now includes stairs and symbolising a space launch. The previous changes were just to the exterior, but it still resembled a house.
• Following the third week eviction the entire week was played in backwards in a twist titled “Backwards week”
• Week 5 during the Double Eviction Ika managed to get Neda out in an iconic game move that will live on history
• On May 18th BBCAN3 HG Kevin Martin was named the winner

Hiatus

• Not long after BBCAN5 concluded it was announced Big Brother Canada would not be returning in the 2018 broadcast year for a season 6
• As a result, reality tv podcaster Rob Cesternino, host of Rob Has A Podcast and former Survivor USA player started it and received 12,500 signatures
• Fans took to social media in waves and had twitter trending #SAVEBBCAN, and #SAVEBBCANParty with former players from Canada & USA.
• On July 20th, 2017 Global announced on Facebook and during a eviction episode of BB19 USA that they have renewed Big Brother Canada for a 6th season. During the day they had a random countdown on Facebook with cryptic messages
