Big Brother Spain or commonly known in Spain as Gran Hermano is the spanish-language version of the popular reality franchise Big Brother, and is currently the longest version of the popular reality franchise.
Videos surfaced last month of a sexual assault of Carlota Prado a houseguest in the 18th season that aired back in 2017. The video shows Carlota had passed out after drinking and was completely unaware of what had happened until she was sent to the diary room to watch video footage of the incident several hours later.
Back in 2017 Carlota was helped to bed by Jose Maria Lopez, another contestant with whom she had begun a relationship, after a party at the Big Brother house involving alcohol.
Jose than got into bed with Carlota, at which point he is accused of penetrating her as she slept for several minutes before he was interrupted when the show’s production team spoke to him over a speaker.
The contestant was removed from the show later that day and Ms Prado was sent to the diary room, where she discovered what had happened.
Now the show is under fire with a leaked video to spain media outlets of Carlota in the diary room after the incident leading: “Please, Super, stop now please.” when being shown the footage of the sexual assualt.
She spent several days in a hotel before returning to the show and later reported it in 2018.
If convicted of sexual assault in Spain carries a prison sentence of between 15 and 20 years.
