We are officially back for the ninth season of Big Brother Canada, and it was one hell of a ride.
The season started out with the reminder that last season ended because of Covid in another spectacular cold opening only BBCAN knows how to pull off. Next we were greeted with host and executive producer Arisa Cox, with an empty studio audience where she told us the strictest covid protocols for the cast and crew have been put in place.
Arisa Cox reveals who Canada has voted for team Captains (Tina, Kiefer) they will secretly watch as the other fellow houseguests move into the house. Gathering their first impressions with only a video feed, and no audio in the OLG lounge.
Group move ins – Group 1 (Beth, Julie, Kyle, Tychon) Group 2 (Austin, Josh, Jedson, Latoya) Group 3 (Breydon, Victoria, Rohan, Tera).
As the groups moved in alliances have started to form quickly “the undercover brothas” which consisted of Tychon, and Jedson. Well another alliance named “the dolls” of Julie, Austin and Breydon.
Houseguests were revealed that they would play in teams to start the season with each captain picking their team mates.
Team Destiny (Captain – Tina) | Team Defender (Captain – Kiefer) |
Tychon | Latoya |
Tera | Rohan |
Kyle | Josh |
Victoria | Julie |
Beth | Jedson |
Austin | Breydon |
Arisa also revealed they would not have an HOH or Veto challenge this week, instead they would play in a team safety competition similar to survivor with the winning team recieving immunity for the week.
First safety challenge was titled “drop in the bucket” which saw houseguests holding up buckets that were attached to ropes based upon their weight. Team captains had a change to add more ‘sludge’ to another opponent bucket.
The winner was Victoria winning Team Destiny safe from tomorrow nights eviction.
Watch the first eviction episode at 8PM et/pt on Global TV on Thursdays, also available on StackTV. Also the free Live feeds will also kick-off over at the official Big Brother Canada website.
